Who is Shah Jahan in History | Turkish Sultans

One of the rulers of the Mughal Empire in India. He is the son of Jahangir Selim Shah. He was born in Lahore in 1592. In the palace, he had a good education. He passed his shahzade with important state services.

Shah Jahan opposed his father because of his elder brother Hüsrev Khan issue. Despite the large number of his soldiers and the heartfelt devotion of the commanders on his father’s side, he could not win. The great scholar of that time, Imam-i Rabbani, went to Mujaddid-i Elfî Sani and begged him to pray for his success. The Great Imam (quddise sirruh) prevented him from disobeying his father and advised him:

“Go to your father, kiss his hand, take his heart! The reign that will pass away soon will be yours.” he promised.

Shah Jahan listened to his orders and gave up on his desire. When his father died a short time later in 1637, he ascended to the Mughal throne in Agra with the title of “Ebü’l-Muzaffer Şihabüddîn”.

Extra History Of Shah Jahan:

In 1630, he subdued the Nizamshahs and captured the city of Darur. The following year, he took Devletabad and eliminated the Nizamshahs. Shah Jahan made an agreement with the Shiite Qutbshahs on the condition that they mention the four caliphs in the sermon and pay taxes. captured Ahmednagar. South Indian Sultans such as Golkonda and Brezpur recognized Mughal rule. Thus, he fully established the authority of the state in India.

 Shah Jahan gave importance to public works and ensured the development of agriculture. He defended the country’s interests against the British, Portuguese and Dutch. He rebuilt and expanded the city of Delhi. He built castles, palaces, mosques, masjids and tombs. The Taj Mahal, which was built on the tomb of one of his wives in the city of Agra, is one of the important works of Turkish architectural history.

When Shah Jahan fell ill in 1657, a fight for the throne began between his sons. His son, named Awrangzib Alemgir Shah, prevailed over his brothers and deposed his father and proclaimed his sultanate in Agra in July 1658. Shah Jahan lived in the city of Agra for eight more years. He passed away at the age of 75. She was buried next to her husband in the Taj Mahal (1666).
